Education-Attitude-Time
(EAT)
By: Aloysius Dalli, founder
Do not attempt to read this entire page at one time, there are 11
numbered Paragraphs, read one paragraph at a time, when time
permits.
What I am about to express here are my thoughts and opinions.
(You should show this page to your parents and teachers and obtain
their opinions as well)
The following is not about education, it is about how to receive a
good education and have fun doing it.
Let me start with this thought, if you are attending school,
consider yourself lucky...
Lucky, because if you are attending School this means that
you are cared for and “loved!”
Children, you should be aware of the fact that most likely good
people paid for the School building that you attend, for the Books
that you read, the Furniture that you use, Computers that you
might have access to, the Playground where you play, etc... It
does not matter who paid for the above, what matters is that you
appreciate the fact that you are cared for and loved by people
that you do not even know! Remember, if you are attending
School, YOU ARE LOVED!
Food for thought... now that you know that people care for you and
love you, would it not be a good thing for you to show your
appreciation by doing what is expected of you in return?
What is expected of you, is that you behave well, listen to your
Teachers, Study, do your Homework and be Nice to Everyone that you
meet. That is all.
(If you are too young to understand this page, ask your
parents/Guardians or your Teachers, to explain these thoughts to
you).
Two things that are extremely important especially during your
School
years; they are proper positive Attitude and respect for
Time. (Other people’s time and yours)
Attitude
1) Do you posses a positive attitude?
2) Do you wake up with a smile every morning?
3) Do you hug your entire family daily?
4) Do you hug your best friends?
5) Do you like going to School?
6) Do you like your teachers?
7) Do you listen to your teachers?
8) Do you have many friends? 9) Do you enjoy Studying?
10) Do you do your Home work?
11) Do you play and Exercise enough?
Now I will address the above twelve points and express how having
a good attitude and respect for time will cause you to obtain the
best possible education and have fun in the process! (As well as
having a better life)
1) Do you posses a positive attitude?
With a positive attitude you can do just about anything that comes
to mind, as an example you have the ability to be friendly, kind
and loving. (In other words you could choose to be a nice person)
By so doing, you would not only feel good about yourself, those
around you would feel good being with you.
People that have a negative attitude are boring and make excuses
why things cannot be done... People that have a positive attitude
are exciting, they give no excuses and they simply make things
happen!
If you have a positive attitude, you would absorb all of the
knowledge your teachers throw at you and always ready for more!
2) Do you wake up with a smile every morning?
That is exactly how you would wake up if you have developed a
positive attitude.
By your smiling the moment that you wake up, (Meaning that you
wake up in a good mood) what you do is trigger and prepare
yourself for a positive productive day!
3) Do you hug your entire family daily?
Hugging is an expression of warmth and love, if you want to feel
good and if you want those that you love feel good, make sure to
make it a habit to hug everyone in your family before you leave
home.
When you feel loved, you will do better in school, the reason
being that you would want to do well in order not to disappoint
your family with low grades...(One added good reason to do well in
School)
4) Do you hug your best friends?
Real good friends deserve to be hugged as well. When reading this,
you might say, what does “hugging” have to do with receiving a
good education? Hugging in this instance is not the point,
friendship is. If you live in a country that is blessed with
peace, you may take friendship for granted, however, with certain
Countries, this is something that still needs to be experienced!
5) Do you like going to School?
Your attitude should be that of eagerness and positive excitement,
you should feel anxious to go to School every day, for going to
School is like going on Vacation visiting a new place every day!.
Let me explain, when you go to school you are surrounded by
friends, and you learn new things and in a sense experience new
adventures daily!
By learning something new and exciting every day, you would
look forward to attending School the following day, anxious to
absorb more knowledge.
I for one miss my School days, things were different then, for
instance, for fun we used to play with “Tops” in the School
Yard during Lunch period. (I am going way back, when I lived in
Egypt, during 1942, when I was 5 years old!) My memory of that
period, is that of FUN.
6) Do you like your teachers?
You should not only like your Teachers you should show to them the
respect that they deserve. Teachers teach because they love
Children. All Children should smile at their Teachers, say good
morning or hello, (Any proper salutation) then be perfectly quite
so as to prepare yourselves, ready to learn...
By your doing the above, your Teachers would feel respected and
appreciated and for such positive behavior, they would work harder
at teaching you. Your being quite in the Class room would be your
way of showing respect towards everyone’s time, the Teachers’
time and that of your Classmates. If you care to have the best
possible Education, you need to behave as I have indicated above.
The Rules that Schools impose on Children are not to be considered
some form of restriction or punishment, instead rules are imposed
to have order and safety. (Your safety)
7) Do you listen to your teachers?
All children should listen intently to their teachers, if you do
not concentrate on what the teachers say to you, you are bound to
loose important knowledge. Consider this, teachers teach a
Classroom of let’s say 30 to 40 Students at a time...teachers do
their best to teach you, however, it is difficult for teachers to
know as to who is paying attention or not? (Even if you are nice
and quite)
Those that pay attention to their teachers learn, those that do
not, do not, it is that simple...
If you pay attention to your teachers, you would learn new things
every day, and your time in class would be interesting and
exciting and your grades would be high. If you do not listen
intently, your time in School would be boring and your grades
would be reflected accordingly.
If you receive low grades, it would not be because you are dumb,
it would be because you do not listen to your teachers.
8) Do you have many friends?
If you have many friends, it is because you have earned their
friendship by having the right attitude. That of being nice,
friendly and caring. (I hope that you have many, many friends)
9) Do you enjoy Studying?
Studying could be difficult because it takes self discipline... I
see studying similar to stretching exercises? Let me explain, do
this exercise: Stand up... now close both your hands, (In other
words make fists) now lean forward and slowly try to touch your
toes with your fists...(Girls are generally more flexible than
Boys, therefore this may not be a perfect example, but I believe
that you will all understand the meaning of this exercise) The
first time that you try to touch your toes, might be difficult and
possibly impossible to many of you, however, if you keep on trying
every day, eventually in a matter of days, most of you would be
able to not only touch your toes, you would be able to do it
easily.
The same goes with studying, initially this could be difficult,
however, with exercising self discipline, in time you would
actually enjoy studying... Especially when you see all that you
learn on your own, and seeing your grades improving! (In time,
studying will become a good habit)
I want you to remember something, you are all intelligent,
(Children are very smart) however, if you have a bad attitude,
your potential would never be realized
10) Do you do your Home work?
Studying/Reading is one thing, doing your written home work is
another. I see your written home work as more than just proof to
your teachers that you have in deed studied... when you write down
what you have learned, it is like you have studied the subject
matter twice, by first reading about the subject and then again by
writing it. This is good because by doing so, you are bound to
remember what you have learned. (It is a fact that people remember
things better by repeated
effort).
11) Do you play and Exercise enough?
I have indicated that attending School is fun,
however, studying hard/concentration, is draining and hard on your
mind and Body, therefore you need to be in good shape as
well. You must maintain a good balance, it is not a good idea to
just work hard, (Study) and not play?)
Besides eating nutritious food, your body needs to be exercised,
this could be accomplished in many ways... if you are healthy,
the best way to exercise your body is by playing in a Sport that
you enjoy. Example: Tennis, Soccer/Football, Basketball,
etc. (Any sport that requires running) Of course you may exercise
by going to a Gym... It does not matter what you choose as long as
you exercise every day, at least for half an hour daily. (One hour
daily would be better).I suggest that you discuss this with your
Doctor and with your Gym teacher)
Time
It is a fact that many people do not think about or respect time,
(Especially other people’s time) yet time is most precious...
I cannot think of anything more precious than time, one day you
are a Child and the next you are an Adult! TIME FLIES!
Be different, do not take time for granted, think about it,
don’t waste it, Respect it...
If you respect time (Not waste it) and have a proper attitude,
such as described above, I would be willing to bet that your
grades are good to excellent.
Note: I wrote this page for the very young, however, I am
hoping that older Children already know that which I have
described on this page.
I wish everyone a Happy, Educational Loving, Peaceful
Life...
Sincerely,
A. Dalli
We
all know that Children represent all that is GOOD.
The questions is... will you be as good when you get
older?
If so, then the World would be in
GOOD Hands. |
